THE WEAVING KIND / october challenge - natural dyeing
Instagram has become my favorite place to meet fellow weavers. One of these awesome weavers, Sarah Neubert, has created a wonderful community with her monthly challenges via The Weaving Kind.
The Weaving Kind releases a new assignment every month to challenge and push weavers creatively and technically in their work, while simultaneously exposing you to new artists and fellow weaving peers. Talk about inspiration overload!
Sarah asked me to contribute to TWK, by creating October's challenge based around natural dyeing. I am so honored she chose to include me on this project. This month's challenge is all about working locally with natural dyes. You'll need to be subscribed to TWK's mailing list (link in their IG profile, click the photo above) to receive assignment details and rules, so head on over and sign up if you haven't already!
I wanted to create something to pair with this month's challenge and to kick off the start of my email newsletter. In the spirit of the assignment, I put together a short e-book that is FREE to download to all newsletter subscribers! Submit the form on the blog sidebar to the right to join.
The e-book is called, NATURAL DYEING IS EASY: 10 Things You Already Have That Make Beautiful Color, and it focuses on simple materials you most likely have floating around in your kitchen or yard, that you can use as dyestuff. My intention with this book was to create a simple guide that can help people start natural dyeing right now. There's no need to feel intimidated or overwhelmed. Even if you have never dyed anything before, you can do this! I promise.
I am beyond excited for all the awesome things happening this month! Be prepared for tons of natural dye blog posts (maybe even featuring some of the materials from the e-book) and if your not following me on Instagram, click the icon to the left or HERE.
