FRIDAY I'M IN LOVE / october 14, 2016
Your life can change so much in one moment, one day, or even one week. That’s the sort of week I had. A total-crazy-life-changing sorta situation. Overwhelming, but ultimately great.
Highlights from this week are generally more varied than last week. Doesn't that sound fancy.
1. Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan.
I remember reading the Joy Luck Club in school and actually sort of liking it (I have a habit of just the opposite). Later I read 100 Secret Senses and loved it and have actually reread it a few times (a huge thing for me—I rarely reread books unless they truly move me). Not sure why I never sought out any of her other novels, but I saw this one at the thrift store for a dollar. I figure if it sucks, I’m out a dollar. So far, so good though. The premise sounds great, it involves a ghost, a mysterious death and automatic writing.
2. Twin Peaks Soundtrack (Vinyl) Limited Release
This is the most beautiful record ever. Marbled coffee brown vinyl, matte white cutout cover sleeve. The inner sleeve is a dreamy creepy photo of TP trees and the music, perfect in and of itself. I freaked out when I saw this online and immediately pre-ordered it. It makes a little TP nerd like me so happy.
3. Bullet Journaling
This has saved my planning and scheduling and everything. I have faithfully used a Moleskine Daily Planner (like this) for 2 years now, somewhat customizing it to fit my needs as best I could. But it was never quite enough (sorry planner). I need weekly views! Places to jot down and track goals! Etc! Bullet journaling has made this so much easier. I’m pretty over-the-top with how I decorate my spreads and layouts. I still use one page per day, but now I have a bigger notebook and even more room to write. I LOVE IT!
4. CARD MAKING.
I got sucked up into all the cute Halloween paper crafting stuff this year. Really sucked up into it. It’s all so damn cute! I decided to make all the little special kiddos in my life Halloween “cards” out of envelopes (so they have pockets-- is there a better term for this?) filled with Halloween goodies (little notepads, erasers, stickers, and pencils). It’s a lot of work, but it’s also helping me get my paper crafting feet wet again. Right now I’m all about quantity so I don’t get too hung up on the details and get a little faster at it. All of these cards will be shared here on the blog as part of what I’m calling my Halloween Card Series (clever title, eh?).
5. Portlandia Season 6 (on Netflix)
We don’t have cable, so I get all my TV or whatnot thru tha internet. Portlandia is a staple fav of mine. Having been such a Sleater-Kinney fan when I was younger, Carrie holds a special spot in my little riot grrrl heart and ohhh man, this season is hilarious! I had to hurry up and watch it because my mom was seeing episodes before me and then totally telling me all about them before I could tell her to stop. She doesn’t really get the whole “spoiler alert” thing.
What have you guys been loving this week? Tell me in the comments below!
