FRIDAY, I'M IN LOVE / november 4, 2016
I’ve already installed a Christmas Countdown app on my phone and let me be the first to inform you that as of today, there are only 51 days until Christmas. My favorite time of the year! I love doing so much this time of the year that I’ve decided to incorporate a Christmas planner into my bullet journal and I’ll admit I am waaaay too excited about it. I guess you could say I really like Christmas.
Anyway, I digress. This week’s happenings:
1. Thumbprint Radio (Pandora)
I started using Pandora in 2009 when I had a 40 hour/week office job. It saved me from going crazy from 8 hours of awkward silence and office noise all day. I’ve been subscribing to it ever since. As a result, most of my stations are really well-curated to my tastes. When this Thumbprint Station appeared almost as if by magic, it was like those well-curated stations got further refined into something I can listen to non-stop. I have this on all the time and this week it got some extra special airtime because I’ve been rearranging my office/work space so much. Which leads me to…
2. Re-arranging Spaces
There is something so refreshing about switching up a room and rearranging things. I never used to enjoy it, but now it’s a seasonal requirement. Also, it gives me access to clean insane amounts of dust and dirt that get trapped in the weirdest spots. This week I completely transformed my office/work space into a much more efficient area. Tons more table surfaces. I’m considering starting to make YouTube videos so I included an area that is suitable for filming.
3. Metallic Watercolors
I bought this set over a year ago and have barely used them. I found them during my office re-do (see above) and thought I would use them as part of a daily weaving. These are pretty cool and I need to give them more playtime. However, I feel like these require a little more finessing than regular watercolors especially when using a water brush (mentioned in a previous weekly favorites here). The colors don’t seem terribly pigmented and you don’t get a lot of paint in each pan. I’ll definitely use these up, but I don’t think I’ll repurchase. I have also gotten a similar effect by spray some shimmer/glimmer mist sprays onto a palette and painting with those. The metallic in these watercolors seem to have dark cast, so the glimmer mists are a way to get more variety and brightness in your metallics.
4. Tokyo Halloween Costume Street Party (video)
Japan is seriously the coolest place. This proves that.
5. YouTube Channel – Jenn Coyle (Hello Brio Studio)
I haven’t practiced my hand lettering or even watched YouTube that much this week, but when I have I’ve been making my way through Jenn Coyle’s videos. There are so many! It’s almost like taking a mini class for free. Do you guys have any hand lettering resources you love? Let me know below.
So another week bites the dust. Other weeks that also bit the dust can be found here.
